OUR STORY · 2004 TO TODAY 2004. Philippa Enever takes on the old Weaverbird Gallery, and brings it to Wells Road.
Philippa grew up in Ilkley and trained in textiles in London. She came to framing by chance, met Geoff Benson who ran the original Weaverbird Gallery, and learned the trade from him. When he retired she bought the business, moved it to 6 Wells Road, and renamed it The Weaverbird Workshop.
Twenty years on, Nik Walford works the bench alongside her, a framer and a portrait painter. Everything is made here, nothing is sent away, and the window is a monthly show for one local artist.
“Each person’s artwork is special. It needs to be treated with care and attention, and deserves to be presented in the best possible way.”
